The catamaran Renøy was sold by Boreal earlier this winter and has spent some time inside our heated workshops for service, smaller upgrades and conversions. 20.march it was on blue waters again and is now under way to start a new trade in German waters. We wish North Frisian Offshore and Adler Cat the best of luck in the new operation.
Fjellstrand is awarded a new contract by Heistek and Statoil for an aluminium elevator shaft to be installed on board the floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel that will be located on the Johan Castberg field in the Barents Sea.
Delivery is due in October 2018 and will be built on the Omastrand yard where a battery driven aluminium ferry for Fjord1 already is under construction.
The elevator shaft is a 18 meters high construction of approx 15 tons and comes after a number of similar contracts for offshore installations built at the Fjellstrand yard.

FJELLSTRAND has together with Rogaland County Municipality and other members of NCE Maritime CleanTech been awarded 11.7 Million Euros to develop an all-electric high-speed passenger vessel to operate between Stavanger and Hommersåk on the west coast of Norway. This project aim to revolutionize Norwegian production of zero emission vessels. The project will also conduct two studies for the same type of vessel in London and the inland waterways of Belgium.
A result of good Collaboration: The Norwegian players who will contribute to developing the vessel are all members of Maritime CleanTech. Besides Rogaland County Municipality they are Leirvik, Servogear, Wärtsilä and Hydro Extrusions Norway. Valide and Kolumbus have also taken part in the project.
The vessel will be built by Fjellstrand at Omastrand.
The project will result in a new fully-electric high-speed vessel with zero emissions. In addition, new manufacturing methods will contribute to substantially lower production costs.
The following are also taking part in the project: Wärtsilä Holland (Netherlands), MBNA Thames Clippers (UK), University of Strathclyde (UK), Fraunhofer IEM (Germany), HSVA (Germany) and Waterwegen & Zeekanal NV (Belgium).
The project will commence in the spring when the contract with the European Commission has been signed and it has a duration of four years.
